Wherehouse coupon 30% off all DVDs
Wherehouse purveyors of new and used DVDs, CDs and games are having a 30% sale running through until the 2nd of October. Use the coupon code BIGSALE at checkout to claim your discount.
With 30% off a lot of items start to become pretty good value especially if you don’t mind used items.
Google Checkout $10 off $30 at Buy.com, CD Universe and DVD Empire
Google Checkout is running a nice promotion where you can save $10 off any order of $30 or more at selected merchants. For DVD fans the best choices seem to be Buy.com, CD Universe and DVD Empire. You might need to log out of your existing account with the stores to see the Google Checkout option.
If you need some suggestions for what to spend your money on Buy.com has a list of over 150 movies for $6 each and a pretty decent TV sale.
Unfortunately Google Checkout is only available to US residents so the millions of us living outside the US are out of luck.
X-Men 3 and Davinci Code preorders half price at Amazon.
Amazon has the inappropriately named X-Men - The Last Stand along with The Da Vinci Code for $14.98 a healthy 50% off retail. Both links take you to the widescreen versions but people with small TV’s and or bad taste can find the full screen versions for the same price if they look around.
DVD Planet Criterion preorders 40% off
Ah variety… Yesterday brought a somewhat cheesy family friendly sitcom and an assortment of gore fests. Today we go high brow as in foreign language and old films you’ve probably never heard of.
DVD Planet is offering Fallen Idol (1948) for $17.97. Along with Pandora’s Box (1928) and Double Life of Veronique (French) for $23.97. All three titles are preorders for November this year.
Best Buy Cosby Show and Horror Bargains
Entries on both ends of entertainment spectrum from Best Buy today. Season 1 of the very family friendly Cosby Show is $14.99 around $8 cheaper than the next best online price.
If you’re more into gore and violence then you can take your pick of very gory High Tension, the suprisingly decent 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead or the pretty crappy Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake for $6.99 each. The Texas Chainsaw remake does come with a removable metal face plate though if trinkets are your thing.
Second Spin free shipping coupon
Just a quick post today…
Used DVD and CD retailer Second Spin are offering free shipping until the 29th of September. You’ll need the code FSOFFER9 to claim your free shipping. Second Spin offers coupons on a pretty regular basis including percentage off coupons, so if you’re looking a buying some high priced items you might be able to wait out a better deal. On the other hand if you’re an international customer or buying cheap items this coupon looks like a good deal.
Personally I’m going to indulge my strange obsession with killer animal movies and pick up Frogs!
Veronica Mars S1 50% off at Amazon, DVD Planet coupons.
This deal is actually a couple of days old already but it’s a quiet bargain day plus I love Veronica Mars. Amazon is selling season 1 for $29.97 which is $12+ cheaper than the next cheapest online vendor. If like me you’re somewhat dubious about yet another high school drama don’t be it’s an amazing show. I’ll probably ramble about it a length sometime but for now checkout Kevin Smith and Joss Whedon (Buffy, Firefly) on Veronica Mars.
The same Amazon sale also features Nip Tuck seasons 1 and 2 for $29.97, The OC Seasons 1 and 2 for $34.97 all 50% off. Additionally there’s a raft of other shows including the excellent Entourage and the not so excellent Everbody Loves Raymond for between 30% and 45% off.
Finally DVD Planet has released their October coupons
OCTOBER2006 - $5 off $60 Approx 8%
PREOCT2006 - $10 off $125 Approx 8%
OCTUSED2006 - 10% off $50 or more on used DVDs
Not exactly earth shattering coupons but if your buying something anyway you might as well save a few extra dollars.
Wonderfalls, X Files and other TV on DVD 60% off at Amazon
Welcome to the inaugural post of the DVD Bargain Blog.
Amazon is running a Fox TV on DVD sale with 16 quite good titles at 60% off. You can see the full list here.
A standout is the complete series of the highly regarded Wonderfalls for $16. Embarrasingly I still have an unwatched copy of this sitting on my shelves, purchased from DVD Soon when they were merely moderately incompetent and not complete thieves. However I am considering a blind by on season 1 of Super Size Me director Morgan Spurlocks 30 Days which seems hard to pass up at under $11.
Other Highlights
Bernie Mac Season 1 - $16.00
NYPD Blue Season 1 - $16.00
X Files Mythology V1 - Abduction - $16.00
X Files Season 6 - $20.00
NYPD Blue seems great value at $16.00 for a full 22 episodes of a quality show but I’m not sure I want to start a collecting a series with potentially 12 seasons of DVDs to be released. It certainly wouldn’t bode well for Wonderfalls finally making to the top of my to watch list!
Well that’s post number 1 out of the way. Hopefully tommorow will bring more new bargains and another post.
